This conference discussed priorities for dementia policy in England.
With dementia to be included as part of the new Major Conditions Strategy, instead of the previously expected ten-year strategy for dementia, delegates assessed the long-term strategic priorities for improving health outcomes for dementia, developing integrated holistic care, enabling earlier diagnosis, and the role of social care.
It was also an opportunity to discuss innovative approaches to support services and care in the community, addressing diagnosis backlogs and managing dementia in hospitals and primary care.
Key stakeholders and policymakers examined the next steps for delivering the Dementia Mission as part of the Life Sciences Vision, including opportunities for research and development, investment, collaboration and taking forward treatments in the NHS.
We are pleased to have been able to include keynote sessions with Dr Megan Eldred, Senior Policy Advisor, Dementia Mission Lead, Office for Life Sciences; and Samantha Benham-Hermetz, Director of Policy and Public Affairs, Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Sessions in the agenda included discussion on:

The conference was an opportunity for stakeholders to consider the issues alongside key policy officials who attended from the CQC; DHSC; DSIT; HMPPS; Home Office; MHRA; NAO; and the OHID.
