Next steps for building safety regulation in England

TO BE PUBLISHED March 2025

Starting from: £99 + VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This conference focuses on the way forward for building safety regulation in England.

It is an opportunity for stakeholders and policymakers to discuss recent developments and outstanding issues. Sessions will consider implementation of new safety standards for high-risk buildings, as well as regulation and the direction of Government policy going forward.

We expect discussion on practical next steps following the Government’s response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report, including the way forward for improving accountability, transparency, and improved regulatory oversight in building safety. The roles, responsibilities and priorities for stakeholders will also be considered.

Delegates will examine the Government’s Budget commitments and priorities for the forthcoming June Spending Review, including allocation for cladding remediation, alongside the Warm Homes Plan and boosting energy efficiency and housing safety. We expect discussion on the potential impact on affordable housing and the remediation of unsafe cladding in high-risk buildings.

Further sessions will discuss the role of the Building Safety Regulator, as well as the capacity of building control firms and implications for implementation of the Building Safety Act, looking at funding and project timescales. Discussion will also assess impacts on investment and funding strategies, regional approaches to building safety compliance, and the way forward for multi-agency collaboration to improve safety outcomes across the sector.
