This conference focused on the way forward for the safe and effective use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
It was a timely opportunity to examine the MHRA’s Software and AI as a Medical Device programme and regulatory framework, which was due for implementation in July 2023.
The discussion also came with a range of wider policy developments including the publication of the A pro-innovation approach to AI regulation white paper, as well as the National AI Strategy, and government initiatives on use of data and digital technologies in healthcare.
Key stakeholders and policymakers assessed challenges for healthcare workers using AI technologies, developing workforce confidence in AI, and involving clinicians in the development of new technologies in the context of the publication of Health Education England’s Developing Healthcare Workers’ Confidence in AI report.
