This conference assessed the next steps for energy storage in the UK.
It took place as the Government prepared its response to its smart energy system consultation.
Delegates discussed issues surrounding concerns over market access and grid connections, as well as Ofgem’s role and potential options for facilitating a greater number of decentralised energy programs and smart systems. Further discussion focused on the integration of small-scale energy storage technologies with new electric vehicles, and the technical challenges of increasing electrification of the transport network.
The agenda also brought out latest thinking on priorities for collaboration amongst key stakeholders to assess advances in energy storage research and innovation, so as to support the transition of battery technology to large-scale storage projects.
