This seminar brought together the latest thinking around the use of data and academic research to improve educational outcomes.
Delegates discussed how schools and local authorities can make best use of data to track pupil performance and plan interventions for under-performing groups. They also looked at how universities and schools can work together to increase teachers' engagement with academic research, following the Teaching and Learning Research programme (TLRP).
Further sessions considered the role of Randomised Controlled Trials (RTCs) and government's plans for a self-evaluating College of Teaching. The use of Big Data in improving accountability in schools was also considered.
Attendees included policymakers with key stakeholders, including school and college leaders, teacher training professionals, education data service providers, teaching unions, academics, and other interested parties.
