June 2023

This conference discussed key and emerging themes from the Online Safety Bill following its reintroduction to Parliament, and next steps for implementation.

It was an opportunity to examine key issues and concerns with new measures such as age verification and digital identity, the duty of care placed on digital platforms, and new powers given to regulators, including bringing legal charges against companies and their senior management.

Stakeholders and policymakers considered priorities for platforms in tackling and removing harmful content, the impact of legislation, and implications for the tech industry.

Further sessions looked at options for creating a safe space for all and empowering users, with discussion on next steps to improve media literacy amongst young and vulnerable groups, and provide resources and information to support parents and guardians in tackling online harms.

We are pleased to have been able to include keynote sessions with Antony Walker, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, techUK; Elle Todd, Partner, Reed Smith; and Jessica Smith, Principal, Ofcom.
