This seminar offered an opportunity to consider latest opportunities and unique challenges for the creative industries in England.
Sessions examined how the sector, working with local and central government and their agencies, can effectively implement a joined-up strategy to support innovation, commercial growth and the development of talent in order to ensure England’s future success in an increasingly competitive global marketplace and secure a sustainable infrastructure of support for creative companies outside London.
In light of a drive towards devolved decision-making of strategy and funding in the English regions, and four years on from the abolition of regional development agencies, delegates also examined the current landscape for access to finance for different creative industries across England - including the distribution of public funds and levels of private investment - and identified the shortfalls which need to be addressed going forward.
